Multi-touch is the touch sensing surface's ability to identify the presence of two or more points of contact with the surface. This plural-point awareness is used to deploy advanced functionality like pinch to zoom or activating predefined programs. Some companies further break down the various definitions of multi-touch in an effort of disambiguation or marketing classification.

Recently, HP unveiled three consumer notebooks that offer multitouch displays. This includes a specially created hybrid PC that provides people more choice in how they access information.

The HP ENVY x2 is an ultrathin hybrid PC with the benefits of two devices in one. The HP ENVY x2 has a detachable screen that becomes a complete tablet when separated from the keyboard with a seamless magnetic latch as a notebook that doubles as a tablet. This helps customers to get away from the dilemma of having to select between a product that lets them create rich content and another that lets them enjoy entertainment on the go.

The HP SpectreXT TouchSmart Ultrabook and HP ENVY TouchSmart Ultrabook 4 provide the intuitive power of touch to ultramobile PCs.

“Consumers want the flexibility to move between creating rich documents and losing themselves in a great movie,” said James Mouton, senior vice president and general manager, Personal Computer Global Business Unit, HP .“With the HP ENVY x2, customers can have it all, and the touch experience on these three new notebooks brings out the best of Windows 8.”

Recently, the company vowed to overtake Asustek as the No.2 seller in the Thai notebook computer market within a year. The US-based company is proceeding with its marketing plan to promote its notebooks to capitalize on the upcoming commercial third-generation mobile broadband services after a full year of restructuring its global organization and supply chain system.
