When your product creates a new word to describe it, you know you are onto something special. Such is the case with the Samsung Galaxy Note; it is called a “phablet” (which is the combination of phone + tablet).

Samsung (News - Alert) created a phone with all the capabilities of a mobile phone and added it to a device that is smaller than a general tablet but is larger than any mobile phone on the market.

When users thought the phablet could not get any better, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 2 will be released in the coming months. This will immediately cause users to ask whether or not they should upgrade to the Note 2 or stay with the Note that they already own.

The first point of interest is that the Note 2 is slightly larger (by .2 inches) and slightly heavier. However, there has been no upgrade made to Note 2 for screen resolution. Having a larger screen, the Note 2 will have a lesser resolution that the Note 1.

The internal hardware is without a doubt what will set the Note 2 apart from its predecessor. The note has a 1.6 GHz quad core processor with 2GB of RAM (News - Alert) versus the 1.4 GHz single core processor and 1GB of RAM that is found in the Note 1. This change will cause multitasking to be much smoother on the Note 2.

The Note 2 will also come in a 64GB internal memory version, along with 16GB and 32GB versions. The Note 1 is only available in 16GB and 32GB versions. Another key point is the Note 2 will have an SMS slot capable of using a 64GB card; the Note 1 was only able to use a 32GB card.

The launch of the original Note created a lot of buzz among consumers and the launch of the Note 2 will come with just as much fanfare to both the current Note 1 users and consumers new to the phablet-style devices.
