Vocollect announced the debut of the SRX2, a new wireless headset suitable for distribution centers (DCs) and warehouses. The company is a business unit of Intermec (News - Alert), specializing in providing voice-enabled solutions for mobile workers.
In a release, Jay Armant, vice president – product management, Vocollect said, “The SRX2 sets an entirely new standard for headset performance, raising the bar in speech recognition quality, end-user experience, ergonomics, and investment value. As the market leader in end-to-end voice solutions, our partners and customers count on Vocollect to continually introduce industry-leading solutions like the SRX2 that help solve key business challenges.”
The SRX2 features Vocollect’s optimized SoundSense technology that can continuously listen and block environmental sounds in the DC and warehouse. This helps workers achieve higher accuracy resulting in few errors, thereby enhancing productivity.
Officials added that the SRX2 ensures a 50 percent reduction in ambient noise when compared to other distribution environment headsets. It is expected that the new device will help improve operational efficiency of workers as it will provide superior voice recognition capabilities. The modular design of the SRX2 will enable shared use of headset electronics over multiple shifts making the solution cost effective.
The headset is both rugged and compact and can withstand low temperatures, high noise, and fast-moving piece-picking environments. Optimum (News - Alert) recognition and response in very low temperatures such as -22F°/ -30 C° is made possible by SRX2.
The device sports sleek ergonomic features and a versatile headband design enabling workers in demanding DC and warehouse environments to wear it and work in comfort even on long shifts.
Vocollect’s Advanced Speech Recognition Protocol is leveraged by the SRX2 in order to ensure high definition audio experience and zero loss of speech data while communicating with Vocollect Voice computers. Also, the enhanced data and sampling rates provide optimum voice interaction experience for end users, added officials.
Besides these advantages, asset management has been facilitated owing to the ability to track and manage Vocollect headsets and batteries in the DC and warehouse. The batteries are designed to last two shifts in dry environments and one full shift in freezer environments. It also allows intelligent battery management which predicts battery shift life months in advance.
The modular headband and asset management capabilities offer greater convenience for DC and warehouse managers as they can now focus on other responsibilities by saving time and effort in maintaining spare headsets.
In July 2012, Vocollect and Total Solution Partner Vitech Business Group announced that Sysco Guest Supply, a full-service provider of personal care amenity programs and room accessories to the lodging industry, has increased throughput performance by 28 percent and put-away by 26-28 percent after deploying Vocollect Voice across eight workflows in 10 United States distribution centers (DCs).
