Android (News - Alert) 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is the latest version of the Android platform for phones, tablets and more. It is created keeping in mind the things people love most about Android. The operating system provides easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets and deep interactivity.

It also adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing.

Acer (News - Alert), a notebook manufacturer, recently decided to make use of this technology, and introduced two smartphones which provide advanced features running on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Providing a clear and detailed rendering of image and text, the Liquid Gallant and its dual-sim twin brother, the Liquid Gallant Duo, sport a 4.3-inch display with a qHD resolution.

To allow lighting the screen when sliding it out of the pocket, the unique design is further enhanced by the power button placed on the back of the phone.The Liquid Gallants run Android ICS 4.0.4 for a smooth and user-friendly performance. By adding cool touches such as the convenient unlock screen, Acer has improved the user experience, the company said in a recent statement.

“This new Acer smartphone mission is quite simple: bring the best experience to all the modern days' explorers, which results in creating a very affordable phone with no compromise on performance and usability," said Allen Burnes, SPBG EMEA vice president.

Recently, the company announced that it was looking to introduce six Windows Phone 8 or Android-based smartphone models next year. The new products will target the market segments in Europe, China and Southeast Asia. One of the six models to be launched is WP8 device and the remaining are Android-based smartphones. While the low-end models will adopt MediaTek chipset solutions, the high-end models will be installed with Qualcomm (News - Alert)-developed dual-core processor.
