The Original Motorola (News - Alert) Razr had many innovative design and technological breakthroughs, but in recent years, competition from other mobile phone manufacturers has taken the luster out of the company’s phone products. When Google (News - Alert) purchased the company earlier this year analysts agreed it would spare no expense in returning Motorola to the top of the very lucrative smartphone market. The decision to use an Intel (News - Alert) processor for the Razr shows Google is introducing products with the power to exploit future mobile technology. Having the most powerful mobile phone processor at the core will improve all of the capabilities of the phone and let their competition know there is a new player in the smartphone arena.

The specs for the Razr are impressive and as new models are introduced with the Intel processor the next generation of Motorola Smartphones will have very few competitors who will be able to match the hardware and software capability Google and Motorola will produce.

The Razr i has a Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3 inch edge to edge display and an Intel Atom processor giving it the capability of being the first phone to achieve 2.0GHz. This speed allows you to change from one application to another without any lag and take pictures with the 8-megapixel camera which loads in less than one second.

“Together with Intel, we’re redefining what people can expect from a mobile device. A camera that launches in an instant, Web pages that load blazingly fast and a device that’s the perfect balance of screen size and fit in hand, RAZR i delivers just that when you put an Intel-fast processor in a beautifully designed phone and add in extra long battery life,” said Jim Wicks, senior vice president, Consumer Experience Design, Motorola Mobility.

“Motorola RAZR i with Intel Inside naturally blends together the value propositions of high performance Intel Architecture and great battery life, Motorola Mobility device innovation and the Android (News - Alert)™ platform. Intel’s goal is to provide compelling technology options that translate into great user benefits and experiences. RAZR i is a great proofpoint in the collaboration and we’re thrilled to be working with Motorola to bring this edge-to-edge experience enhanced with Intel Inside to people around the world,” said Erik Reid, general manager, Intel’s Mobile and Communications Group.

The phone is powered by Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich with an option for an upgrade to Jelly Bean. You can get more than 600,000 apps and entertainment from Google Plays as well as many of the features Google is known for such as Google Maps for Android, Voice Actions for Android and NFC (near field technology) features to communicate with compatible phones using Android Beam. The phone will be available in Europe and Latin America initially and the price will vary by country.
