Nokia (News - Alert) has announced the introduction of Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 smartphones that provide new Nokia web services and developer tools.

The latest offerings from Asha Touch family of mobile devices, Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309, work on Nokia Xpress Browser, which facilitates up to 90 percent more efficient mobile browsing and faster access to rich web applications compared to traditional browsers.

Nokia Asha 308 is a dual SIM phone and Asha 309 is a single SIM phone. Armed with a fluid 'swipe' user interface and an open environment for third-party application development, these phones are Nokia's most affordable capacitive touchscreen devices to date. Both the phones are 2G-enabled devices which provide a 3.0'' WQVGA capacitive display, multiple home screens, stereo radio, loud speakers and up to 32GB microSD card support.

While the Nokia Asha 308 is a dual SIM device providing Nokia's Easy Swap technology, The Nokia Asha 309 is the single SIM variant with Wi-Fi. To get the best local tariffs without having to remove the battery or turn off the phone, Easy Swap allows people to change between various SIM cards rapidly and easily.

"By introducing the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309, we're expanding our affordable smartphone lineup and bringing new mobile experiences to more people.”

Recently, the company introduced a new range of Asha smartphones in Nigeria, as part of Asha family expansion plan. While Nokia Asha 311 is a fast and fluid 3.5G capacitive touchscreen device, powered by a 1GHz processor to provide Internet experience, the relatively inexpensive Nokia Asha 305 is equipped with the exclusive Easy Swap dual SIM. Presently, 10 Asha devices are available in over 130 markets.
