Cookbooks are part of almost every household, and whether you’re a professional or an enthusiastic amateur, a good cookbook can be a source of many happy moments.
As the digitization of our world continues, more cookbooks are being created digitally without ever seeing a printing press. Kinetic Art is an Israeli startup with the idea of introducing the joy of cooking on a digital format with an exceptionally high-quality visual experience.
The application is specifically designed to take advantage of the technology of the iPad to provide an interactive experience for each Look & Cook recipe.
Every component of the app was created to make the cooking experience more enjoyable with detailed instructions, photographs and tips from top chef Meir Adoni. The collection of 44 recipes is handpicked by the chef from his restaurants in Tel Aviv taking into account the global audience of the application.
In order to take advantage of the HD display of the iPad, Kinetic Art used Israel’s top food photographer Dan Peretz to create more than 700 high-definition images. The images are accompanied by short videos embedded to provide step-by-step guides. The video, pictures and text can be accessed by voice command so you can view, scroll or stop what you are watching without messing up your screen.
Additionally, time-critical recipes are automatically counted down for you so you can get your recipe right down to the second.
“We saw for the first time the opportunity to transform and extend cookbooks into a digital medium only when the first iPad was launched, when the screen was magnificent and its rich media capabilities seemed to offer a solid ground for such innovation, way before the Retina,” said Ronen Mizrachi the company's creative director. “There are many others around the world who saw this opportunity and built iPad and iPhone (News - Alert) apps for cooking, some became very popular. But we never wanted to create an app; we wanted to create a successful digital version for cookbooks."
The company is giving users an opportunity to experience Look & Cook with a free introductory version of the program. As part of the free version, you’ll get the first six complete recipes. The complete application is available from the App Store for $4.99.
