Newegg has long been one of those electronics retailers that the hard core shopper knows well, but that the average consumer may not have heard of before today. That is one of the reasons the online store is revamping its look and feel in an effort to become a bit more user friendly and to get their name out there to the average Internet shopper. The company announced yesterday that they have completely changed up their online store front and have released new mobile applications for the iPad and the Windows 8 format and the store now has an app for all the major mobile platforms.

Newegg timed this particular re-launch perfectly as it comes just before the holiday shopping season really heats up. The re-launch includes the first time the company has made a concerted push to get into the mobile application market as far as applications go. Whether or not this strategy works will depend quite a bit on whether word of mouth by the store’s more loyal customers will drive the download and use of those apps.

Among the new features that the mobile site will offer will be an easier search function that includes being able to find the best deals on the site in just a few clicks. The site will also make it easier to track any orders that were placed through Newegg, a feature that becomes quite important during the time of year when a customer is going to be frantically making sure that a gift order is actually on its way and will arrive shortly.

"Our goal is to provide a compelling mobile experience across all platforms and enhance the shopping process for our customers," said Shelley Perry, senior vice president and chief technology officer of Newegg North America.
