ROUTE 66 Makes Navigation Easier with New Panoramic Car Kits

While the concept of the GPS navigation tool—be it hardware- or software-based—has brought a new joy to a lot of drivers, as well as taken a lot of the headache out of the equation, there is plenty of room to improve the experience. Thus, ROUTE 66 earlier today released a range of car kits specifically geared for individual smartphones to not only better hold the relevant devices in place, but provide the most possible range for the devices to best work.

The Panoramic Car Kits, offered by ROUTE 66, come specifically designed for several different devices, including the Apple iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S, the Samsung (News - Alert) Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note, as well as the HTC One X. The ultra-specific design capability ensures the best possible fit for each device, as well as the best possible view for the smartphone's rear camera, ensuring that the smartphone can do the best job possible of navigation.

Better yet, the Panoramic Car Kits also offer a particularly powerful charging system at 2.1A, which is twice the power of a standard model. The kits can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation, and can even be mounted on the windshield or the dashboard with equal effect, thus allowing the user to set the device where it's most convenient to access.

The Panoramic Car Kit, according to ROUTE 66's COO Job van Dijk, is specifically geared to work with ROUTE 66's Follow Me augmented reality navigation system, and also serves as not only a tailor-made holder for users' devices of choice—assuming their device of choice isn't an iPhone (News - Alert) 5 or an iPhone 4 or any of the other devices that don't seem to as yet have a specialized holder made, though just how specific that design may be is unclear—but also a rapid charging system.

The ROUTE 66 Panoramic Car Kit sells for $19.99 Euros—around $26.26 in United States dollars—and can be found at ROUTE 66's web store with free worldwide shipping.

While the idea of a specifically tailored car holder for smartphones may seem a bit strange, there's no denying that it would indeed have the best possible fit. Considering that people can be counted on to keep their phones for some time, and that in many cases the new releases look similar to their predecessors—would an iPhone 4S mount not accommodate an iPhone 4, or 5?--the device's longevity may be better than previously thought.

Still, the specifically-tailored car holder isn't a bad idea, and improving navigation capabilities is seldom a bad thing either. At the price ROUTE 66 is asking, it looks like a solid way to make car navigation via smartphone a better overall prospect.
