Analogix Semiconductor, a major player in enabling DisplayPort products, has introduced SlimPort Mobile Device to display accessories.

Officials with Analogix Semiconductor said that the new line of SlimPort accessories feature a microUSB adapter that connects SlimPort or MyDP (Mobility DisplayPort) enabled mobile phones and tablets to any HD projector, TV, computer or monitor for multi-display productivity and big screen entertainment.

“Using next generation smartphones and tablets with integrated SlimPort products combined with SP accessories will make it easy to own most any screen wherever you go,” said Andre Bouwer, vice president of marketing for Analogix, in a statement.

Bouwer added that multi-screen multi-tasking will soon become a reality, while sharing content with friends, family and colleagues will be simpler than ever.

Company officials said that coming to market in the next couple of months, tablets and smartphones featuring SlimPort capabilities will be equipped to display true full HD (1080p at 60Hz) media on any screen, even in 3D, all while preserving battery life.

According to company officials, Analogix is releasing a total of four supporting microUSB cables and adapters with connectivity through most popular display standards - HDMI, VGA, DVI and DisplayPort.

“The VESA MyDP specification, based on globally adopted DisplayPort technology, was designed specifically to make media sharing high quality and intuitive to connect,” said Mike Engbretson, chief technology engineer of Granite River Labs.

“We are very pleased to have certified the source silicon for the industry’s first MyDP product, and look forward to working with Analogix and their customers to certify SlimPort active adapters and mobile devices,” said Engbretson, adding  that MyDP certification is critical to the successful launch of SlimPort and assures customers that the products meet expected compliance and interoperability requirements.

With lab locations in Santa Clara, Calif., and Taipei and Hsinchu in Taiwan, Granite River Labs provides a range of engineering services to help customers adopt multi-gigabit connectivity technologies from the IC to system level, including compliance testing, debugging, device characterization, signal/power integrity modeling and simulation, stress testing, benchmarking, and interoperability.
