Now that handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets boast seamless Internet connectivity, parenting control is becoming an increasingly difficult task. Unlike a desktop or a laptop, tablets can be carried anywhere, and therefore, pose a challenge for parents looking to administer their child’s activities on the Web.

But help is on the way in the form of Internet filtering company Funamo, who has recently revealed its new Funamo Parental Control software for Nook HD and HD+ tablets from Barnes & Noble, which can be downloaded on Nook HD and HD+ devices directly from the Nook Shop.

Boasting the ability to automatically block adult content on the Web, Funamo provides patent-pending Web filtering technology. It also installs SafeSearch for all major search engines such as Google (News - Alert), Bing and Yahoo. Parents will have the ability to block more websites with their own blacklist, and therefore, finally get achieve peace of mind. Best of all, they can even allow some sites in the white list via the white list-only mode.

Funamo is simple to setup and use, as users can download Funamo from the Android (News - Alert) Market and deploy it on their child’s device. They can follow simple onscreen instructions and once the application is installed, they can set up control rules and start Funamo.

“Since the introduction of Nook HD and HD+ in September, many parents have been asking us when Funamo will support them.” explained Howard Li, Funamo’s founder and CEO. “Today, we are happy to announce that Barnes & Noble has approved Funamo Parental Control and you can try it out by installing it from the Nook Shop.”

Recently, the company also unveiled a new version of its Android Parental Control application on Google Play Store, touting support for three additional languages, French, German and Spanish, allowing more customers to enjoy Funamo protection in their own native languages. On their kids’ phones or tablets, parents have the option to monitor all phone calls, SMS messages, Web history, application usage and device locations.
