Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has recently teamed up with HDBaseT Alliance to utilize HDBaseT technology in its home consumer audio and video products.

The HDBaseT Alliance is a group working toward elevating its technology, the eponymous HDBaseT, to become the standard for HD digital connectivity. HDBaseT Alliance was formed by technology specialists such as LG Electronics, Samsung (News - Alert) Electronics, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Valens Semiconductor.

HDBaseT technology allows for audio connections, power connections, Internet connections and even uncompressed HD video through just one CAT5e/6 cable, reducing the snakepit behind almost every home theater to make it much easier to manage.

“HDBaseT represents the next significant step in the evolution of the home theater system. Integrating the technology into our products will make setup and control of even the most complex home theater systems faster and easier,” said Chris Walker, director of AV product planning and marketing for the Home Electronics Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

Walker said that Pioneer always strives to offer outstanding connectivity, state of the art engineering, and exceptional audio and video reproduction across all of its products. By incorporating HDBaseT, the company ensures that that its customers make the most of their home theater experience.

The HDBaseT technology is a high-definition multimedia content suitable for home entertainment systems and business applications. This technology can be used in a home theater to help connect all entertainment devices in a setting through its 5Playfeature set, converging uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, up to 100W of power and various control signals through a single 100m/328ft CAT5e/6 cable with RJ45 connectors.

“HDBaseT has been embraced by professional AV installers worldwide, which is creating demand from consumers for broader availability,” said Micha Risling, marketing chair for the HDBaseT Alliance. “Having Pioneer join the HDBaseT Alliance will help us meet that growing demand in 2013.”
