Newport Digital Technologies, Inc. recently launched a comprehensive co-marketing program with Ingram Micro (News - Alert) for marketing and selling its new N37B rugged military handheld mobile computer.

The new handheld computer features a RFID reader with Hitachi Security Protocol, 3G connectivity certified through AT&T’s (News - Alert) 3G network and a Galileo GPS system. The N37B has been strategically channeled via Ingram Micro’s point of sale and data capture division’s resellers globally besides value added resellers and end-user customers.
Newport Digital Technologies or NDT has also signed a software licensing agreement with Microsoft (News - Alert) Corp. for the development of applications from its Windows Mobile platforms for the N37B and other mobile computing products to be released at later stages.
Company said that the N37B has completed AT&T certification for working on its 3G network in the US. NDT’S N37B is also featured in AT&T’s Developer Program Web site as a certified device for resellers, integrators and developers for purchase.
“NDT, Ingram Micro and AT&T’s marketing and business development teams are aggressively working on POS and Data Capture channel opportunities for the N37B in supply chain management, retail, government, military, law enforcement, telecom, industrial process and control, and automotive markets,” Newport Digital’s CEO, Michael Lutton said.
“The N37B launch has been the initial major initiative for NDT. This product line reflects the company’s ability to bring cutting edge technology to market in a cost effective manner and is now available to our AT&T and Ingram Micro sales channels. We anticipate this unique, RFID enabled computing device to generate significant revenue for NDT in calendar years 2010 & 2011,” Lutton added.
Richard Tanimoto, NDT’s senior managing director, explained that the 3G option will enable the new handheld computing device to provide data connectivity at all places where AT&T’s nationwide 3G service is available. This enables a ‘connect anywhere’ scenario which is most suitable for RFID business applications.
Also it is expected that the GPS option will allow for the N37B to collect RFID data from item level inventory besides also pinpoint and report the location of the inventory scanned by the RFID reader. This will enhance and expand the applications that can be offered from NPDTs relationships with independent software vendors, independent hardware vendors like Socket Mobile and middleware software vendors like Shovon and Workbridge.
Newport Digital Technologies, Inc. is a technology solutions company serving technologies like radio-frequency identification or RFID, WiMAX (News - Alert), e-Learning, and Digital Signage and LED Lighting solutions.
