Annapolis, MD-based TeleCommunication Systems (News - Alert), Inc. (TCS), recently received $5.5 million delivery order from the U.S. Army.
Under the contract, TCS is going to provide the US Army with the Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point (News - Alert) (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite systems equipment. The company will also provide maintenance and support services for the systems.
The procurement is being funded by the U.S. Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (PM WIN-T) Commercial Satellite Terminal Program. The contract has been awarded to the company through Army’s World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle, according to a news statement.

The company’s SNAP VSAT systems provide multimedia communications capabilities which convey encrypted voice, video and data. The modularity and plug-and-play interfaces between all radio frequency (RF) and baseband configurations inherent in the SNAP product line result in communication solutions tailored to the end-user's specific needs.

Recently, TeleCommunication Systems announced that its Tactical Transportable TROPO (3T) Solution has received the Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) 2012 Global Product Innovation Award.
