Department of Defense Awards Managed Services Contract to GTT

The federal government continued their efforts to stay ahead of the curve when it comes technology, especially in the telecom and communications connectivity field, by awarding a contract to one of the top companies in the field, Global Telecom & Technology (News - Alert) Inc. (GTT). The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO), which is the contract arm of the Department of Defense (DoD), signed GTT to a new contract that will have the company support the department’s internal connectivity and network infrastructure.

The DoD has contract GTT to specifically provide private bandwidth solution over the multi-year contract. The dollar amount and the specific length of the contract have not been divulged at the present time. Among the services that DITCO has purchased are specific dedicated connectivity services that will be able to aid in increasing its network capabilities across the United States. Among the new orders that have been placed from the DoD to Global Telecom & Technology will be several 10 Gigabit wavelengths to connect various sites in the Southwestern region of the U.S. and to the DISA Network.
