Route1 Secures Large Purchase Order from a Component of US DoD

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Security and identity management company Route1 has received a large purchase order from a component of the United States Department of Defense. The order is for 1,950 MobiKEY Fusion devices and subscriptions, bringing the total active user and MobiKEY Fusion device count to 2,000 for this component of the DoD as of the first of December.

“Today’s announcement exemplifies the fit that Route1’s technology has for organizations that require a cost effective and highly secure technology to remotely access their digital resources,” said Brian Brunetti, president of Route1. “We will continue to invest significant time and resources in growing and supporting the U.S. DOD in its efforts to reduce cost while providing unparalleled network and data integrity.”

MobiKEY Fusion is a patented identity validation device that supports government issued identity cards such as common access card (CAC), PIV and FRAC. This solution combines physical possession of the MobiKEY and an identity card with computer and network access.

As such, it meets the standards issues in United States Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12.

Offering all of the same security features as the MobiKEY Classic, the Fusion leverages currently existing smartcards already in the hands of personnel. As such, it allows for easy implementation, while greatly improving security as users are only able to access systems with a combination of their MobiKEY Fusion device, an identity or access card, and a secret password or PIN.

Route1's products are developed to confirm the identity of the person rather than that of a PC, tablet, smartphone or other device.

In September, the company released the MobiKEY Classic2, which enables secure remote and identity management for Mac OS X users.

In July, Route1 launched its eStore, allowing potential customers to purchase security and identity management solutions directly from the company's website.
