Route1 Receives Purchase Order for 1,950 MobiKEY Users from Second Component of United States Department of Defense

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Route1 Inc., a security and identity management company, has received a purchase order for 1,950 MobiKEY users from a second component of the United States Department of Defense.

Officials with Route1 said that the purchase order comprises 1,950 MobiKEY Fusion devices and subscriptions, bringing this component's MobiKEY paid, active user count and MobiKEY Fusion device count to 2,000 as at December 1, 2012.

"Today''s announcement exemplifies the fit that Route1's technology has for organizations that require a cost effective and highly secure technology to remotely access their digital resources," said Brian Brunetti, president, Route1 Inc., in a statement

"We will continue to invest significant time and resources in growing and supporting the U.S. DOD in its efforts to reduce cost while providing unparalleled network and data integrity," said Brunetti.

Earlier in September, Route1 Inc.,, a digital security and identity management company whose customers include the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Energy (DoE), the Department of the Interior (DoI), and the Canadian Government, had introduced the MobiKEY Classic 2 (MC2), a revolutionary tool for Mac OS X users who require security when accessing data remotely.

With this announcement, Route1 has raised the bar for mobile device management and enterprise security by introducing the world’s first SMART device, capable of running on both Mac OS X and Windows machines and devices.

The MC2 is a smartcard embedded device that allows subscribers to remotely access their office computer, network and other digital resources from anywhere at any time. The first security tool ever made available for private enterprise that is configured for Mac OS X (and Windows), the MC2 does not require any pre-installed software to work on a guest computer or other remote device.
