Quantum3D has announced that the company’s six-channel Independence IDX 7000 image generator has been selected by Virgin Galactic, the world's first commercial spaceline.
The top-of-the-line IDX 7000 image generator (IG) sets a new standard for the powerful and most compact real-time image generation, used for simulation, training and mission rehearsal applications.
The IDX 7000 consists of the highest visual performance density available today, with up to four video channels per low-profile 1U module.
To let users make easy system administration and fast changes to security levels, the IDX 7000's Network-Attached Storage (NAS) offers a convenient connection to centralized storage. Along with simulation or stimulation of night vision goggles, the IDX 7000’s Export-Restricted (ER) features support simulation of sensors including CCD, Day TV, Low-Light TV, thermal, short-wave and multi-band FLIRs.
With this agreement, Virgin Galactic will now get a variety of powerful simulation and training platform. To cater to a range of onsite, on-location and mobile training requirements, these platforms can be set up in a committed room or easily transported.
“Virgin Galactic is on the cusp of a new frontier – making sub-orbital space accessibility a reality,” said Wade Guindy, president of Quantum3D. “We are proud to have Virgin Galactic using our IDX 7000 image generator and Mantis software to train their pilots for the future of consumer space travel.”
Recently, the company received an order from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for its Mantis Real-Time Scene Management software. The company’s Mantis software offers fixed- and rotary-wing flight, ground vehicle, tank, mission rehearsal and sensor simulation. It also provides a range of other commercial and military real-time 3D environments.
At Fort Worth, Marietta, and Palmdale, the Mantis software ordered by Lockheed Martin (News - Alert) will arm their Simulation Systems Integration Labs (SimSIL). The Labs offer engineering simulation services.
