Hunan Gintoten Camellia Technology & Development, a tea oil provider in China, has formally shown its intent to rent Diaoyu Island and neighboring islets. An official request for government endorsement in this regard was filed on December 25, 2012 at the State Council, the Land and Resources Bureau, and the Bureau of Oceanography of the People's Republic of China.
According to Gintoten, China has to rely on other countries for providing consumable oil, with a minimum of 60 percent of the oil being imported. As per the application filed by Gintoten, the cost at which ‘edible’ oil is available in China has been decided by the major international organizations.
The cost of edible oil in China can be reduced considerably by planting the tea oil tree in huge numbers. The one-of-a-kind tea oil tree is a completely natural sophisticated oil-bearing domestic plant, and is one of the four major woody oil-bearing plants available worldwide.
China can preserve its grain and oil productions by increasing the development of its domestic tea oil industry and augmenting the yearly yield of tea oil.
The key area for producing tea oil in China is Hengyang. According to Gintoten, Diaoyu Island and surrounding islets are at the equivalent latitude as Hengyang. The substrates like vermiculite, pearlite and rock wool, which are available on Diaoyu Island, are also perfect for carrying out soilless culture state-of-the-art experiments.
Gintoten has therefore requested the Chinese government for leasing out the islands, an ideal location for breeding tea oil tree seedlings. The organization aims to expand the islands into a major manufacture facility for the seedlings.
As per the application request, Gintoten will follow all the regulations offered during rural work conferences of the central Chinese government in case the lease is approved. The organization will unveil technological experiments with the help of novel energies and technologies.
Gintoten aims to assist safeguarding of the country's food supply and competence in agricultural yield and allotment. Farmers will therefore be guaranteed food safeguard and augmented income. At the same time, Gintoten will endorse the development of modern agriculture.
