The global solar panels market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 15.3 percent over the course of 2011-2015, according to a new report. Functional and technological advancements are the two key factors contributing to this market growth, the report notes.

Suntech Power Holdings (News - Alert), a key vendor dominating this market space, is set to launch the SuperPoly STP305-24/Ve solar module, for commercial and utility-scale electricity generation in Europe.

With 15.7 percent efficiency, the SuperPoly STP305-24/Ve is a new generation of the company’s successful 72-cell module, and is noted to be ideally suited for large-scale commercial projects seeking a low levelized cost of energy.

The new Ve-Series modules feature a slim frame design as well, lowering storage and shipment costs by up to 16 percent.

"Considering that solar electricity is already competitive in key European markets, the SuperPoly Ve-Series modules will continue to drive commercial sector PV growth," said Vedat Guergeli, managing director of Suntech Europe.

"Our SuperPoly Ve-Series modules offer high-efficiency combined with excellent reliability, while the new design makes it easier to transport and install,” Guergeli added. “This product will save time, effort and cost, while generating more electricity for our partners and installers."

Suntech's SuperPoly technology achieves high efficiency by utilizing an advanced ingot casting process, which combines the benefits of mono-crystalline silicon wafers and poly-crystalline silicon wafers into one product. With 72 six-inch cells, the new 1956x992x40mm module is noted to feature one of the highest fill factors in the industry and lowers project installation costs.

Though the module comes with an improved design, reduced frame thickness with reduction in total module weight, there is no compromise in the stability or durability. The module is certified to withstand extreme wind and snow loads.

This superior frame design not only facilitates efficient module handling and installation, but allows for more modules to be installed on rooftops with tight weight constraint – highly relevant for many industrial projects.

Other features include a new texturing process, higher efficiency, 25-year power output warranty with positive power tolerance, and a workmanship warranty of 10 years.

The new modules will be available throughout Europe starting in November 2012.

TMCnet recently mentioned a new report entitled “Global Solar Panels Market 2011-2015,” which covers the Americas, and the EMEA and APAC regions, as well as includes the global solar panels market landscape and its growth prospects in the coming years, detailing a discussion of key vendors operating in this market.
