Jakson Power Solutions plans to commission 100MW of solar power generation capacity across India in the next three years.

The Delhi-based company recently announced the commissioning of its first project – a 20MW facility in the Jodhpur District of Rajasthan.

This 20-MW plant was obtained through a competitive bidding process under the Phase I Batch II of the National Solar Mission. This recently commissioned 20MW solar farm was set up with an investment of $36.5 million, under the government’s Jawaharlal Nehru Phase I Batch II National Solar Mission.

Under the second batch of the first phase of the National Solar Mission, 340 MW of solar projects were awarded and the state-owned NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd. (NVVM) would buy the power produced by these solar plants, at tariffs quoted by winning bidders.

The company had built the Jodhpur solar project on 100 acres of land using high crystalline solar-cells technology. According to the company, this project is the largest single location solar power farm in India, based on crystalline cell technology. The company says the project is expected to generate permanent employment for about 100 people. T

he entire execution of the project, from the purchase of land to commissioning, was completed in an incredible short span of 10 months.

The company has now acquired 250 acres of additional land at the same site, where it plans to scale the capacity up to 100MW within the next three years.

Sundeep Gupta (News - Alert), joint managing director of Jakson Power Solutions, said they were looking forward to the next stage of biddings so as to scale up their capacity and aim for a dominant position in the solar power business.

In 2012, they forayed into the solar power sector, and within a year, ventured into solar power generation, solar EPC, solar products and solar power solutions.

Jakson Power Solutions is also into building solar power plants for other companies, and reportedly has orders worth 40 MW on hand.

Jakson is one of India's leading Power Generation Groups. With four companies in its fold, the group has a strong presence in various sectors – and a turnover of $245 million.
