Verdiem Reduces Price of Printing with New Software

Verdiem, a company that specializes in enterprise-class IT energy management and efficiency solutions for PCs, Macs and Cisco (News - Alert) EnergyWise devices, has launched its newest software product, Verdiem (News - Alert) Print & Power Analyzer. The new offering looks to up the operational competency and cut the costs of an IT company's end user computing and print environment.

With the new software, organizations can perform a number of tasks including measuring end-user print activity, identifying local and networked printers, characterizing costs and analyzing data to show opportunities that can lead to optimization of one's print environment.

When using all these aspects of Verdiem Print & Power Analyzer, companies should be able to reduce print costs by up to 30 percent – or $20 to $60 dollars per user each year.

The CEO of Verdiem, John Scumniotales, suggests that the software was developed as a solution for businesses experiencing increased pressure to improve service delivery, but who also need to cut down on spending.

Such companies “typically have little to no visibility into the costs and utilization of their print environment,” Scumniotales notes. “Industry benchmarks show that most organizations easily spend $300 dollars or more per employee per year on printing. Verdiem Print & Power Analyzer exposes end-user print costs and provides IT organizations the critical data needed to significantly lower print costs.”

An August 2012 Gartner (News - Alert) report by Ken Weilerstein titled, “Overcome Your Printer Fleet Optimization Challenges Through Needs Assessment,” provides insights into how clients can reduce their office printing costs by 10 to 20 percent.

Companies are duly rising to the challenge. Weilerstein states that in a fall 2011 survey about Managed Printer Services showed that 63 percent of respondents involved in MPS projects “expected to see a savings in the 10 to 30 percent range, and most of the rest project a larger savings, up to 40 percent."

Verdiem Print & Power Analyzer looks to illuminate a range of printer aspects and costs in a single dashboard view.
