People Power Intros Wireless Apps, Potential Green Apps

The green technology market is slowly creeping its way into almost every market in today’s professional environment. 

Keeping that in mind, Startup People Power just released a wireless application development platform – sensor ultra radio frequency, or “SuRF,” – that is centered on home deployments, the green technology market and commercial offices.

Combing processor and radio on a single chip, People Power’s CEO Gene Wang said that the technology is geared toward applications to help reduce energy consumption in homes and other buildings.

“Developers are going to hopefully help us build the next new green economy,” Wang said. Featuring a system-on-a-chip based on the TI CC430 chip and works with Open Source Home Area Network, or “OSHAN,” technology, the system was rolled out today for embedded systems developers.

 

Additionally, this technology could potentially be used by a government agency to turn down a household temperature at the agency’s whim, which could also spur interest from utility companies. 

Offered in an affordable starter package of $150.00, the SuRF app, based in the C language, could potentially turn into other systems such as an intelligent lawn sprinkler that would know when it was raining and make sure the sprinklers do not go on, therefore conserving water and unnecessary energy.
