Panasonic Launches New Generation of P2 Cards with AVC-Intra Class 200 Recording

By Sujata Garud, TMCnet Contributor

Panasonic, a provider of document imaging and scanner solutions, has announced the launch of a new generation of P2 solid-state recording media – the F series – including support of recording up to AVC-Intra Class 200 of the AVC-ULTRA codec family. F Series P2 cards offer fast transfer speeds (up to 1.2Gbps), which is significantly faster than most professional solid-state memory cards offered by other manufacturers.

The F Series P2 media significantly strengthens data retention reliability with the help of its flash memory error correction system, equivalent to a RAID system. P2 cards also offer trustworthy performance during recording in all types of environments, along with the instant access and complete data compatibility in all P2 camcorders and workflow tools.

The F series of 64GB, 32GB and 16GB P2 cards (models AJ-P2E064FG, AJ-P2E032FG and AJ-P2E016FG) will be available immediately, at suggested list prices of $730, $499 and $399, respectively. The new F Series supports all currently available codecs from existing P2 cameras and recorders, which includes AVC-Intra 100/50, as well as DVCPRO-HD/50/25.

All P2 cards employ high-quality solid-state memory, extremely durable, die-cast aluminum construction and impact-proof connectors. Other solid-state memory card products available in the market often feature breakable, plastic casing with less reliable connectors. At present, Panasonic (News - Alert) is working on development of camcorders that will support AVC-Intra Class 200, such as the previously announced AG-HPX600 P2 HD shoulder-mount.

At the same time, Panasonic has announced the launch of its latest interchangeable lens system camera, which will mark a newly developed 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor and redesigned Venus Engine. Panasonic continues to be competitive in the DSLR segment with the announcement related to Lumix DMC-GF5 camera.

Recently, Panasonic was creating quite the buzz when its KV-S1065C high-speed, document scanner received the coveted “highly recommended” rating along with a “certificate of reliability” from Buyers Laboratory LLC. The BLI determined that the KV-S1065C scanner has several differentiating strengths.

Panasonic will be exhibiting at the ITEXPO West 2012. To be held Oct. 2-5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX, ITEXPO (News - Alert) (News - Alert) offers an educational program to help corporate decision makers select the right IP-based voice, video, fax and unified communications solutions to improve their operations.
