By Linda Dobel, TMCnet Contributor

Its mid summer and everyone’s on the go, making great headset technology essential—especially when the destination is the beach. The good news, as TMCnet Contributing Editor Tracey Schelmetic pointed out, is that a British consumer tech retailer called Expansys The line of products includes Bluetooth headsets  and the 4 GB Lavod AquaCube LFA-296s waterproof MP3 player , which can be used under water (to about nine feet of depth), which means it's swim and surf-worthy. Both the player and its headphones are fully waterproof, the article said. has just launched its new Expansys Summer Essentials range: a host of gadgetry the company says is guaranteed to survive being buried in the sand, a drop into the water or handling by small, sticky fingers.

For those who can’t take the heat and prefer to head indoors to enjoy a little gaming, the world’s number-three notebook manufacturer ASUSTeK Computer has released the ROG Vulcan ANC,  which it describes as “the world’s first active-noise-cancelling pro gaming headset.” In his report on this noise-canceling headset for professional gamers, TMCnet Contributor Ashok Bindra reported that the maker said the ROG Vulcan ANC is designed to immerse users into games and keep them free of distractions like never before.

More news on the gaming/headset front was reported by TMCnet’s Copy Editor Rich Steeves. He said now there is a line of headsets created by Turtle Beach specifically for the new release of Call of Duty. The Ear Force line of headsets contains four different units, he explained, each named after a letter in the military phonetic alphabet. Next in the line is the CHARLIE Optimised Multi-Speaker Surround Sound PC Gaming Headset, retailing for $129.95, which boasts 8 amplified, angled speakers for surround sound. The BRAVO Optimised Programmable Wireless Universal Gaming Headset sells for $149.95 and comes with many special Modern Warfare 3 presets already loaded. The top of the line DELTA retails for $299.95 has wireless Dolby 7.1 surround sound and Bluetooth chat.

Life’s not all about fun and games, alas, and to that end, TMCnet contributor Jayashree Adkoli reported thatU.K.-based CSR (News - Alert) (NewsHarris Ahn, general manager of LG accessory product business leader group, as saying of the headset,  “We determined that one of the things consumers most want from a headset is crystal-clear voice calling quality, and have worked to develop a headset with HD voice support as quickly as possible.” - Alert) plc, a provider of multifunction audio, connectivity and location platforms, announced that LG’s new Wideband Speech-enabled Bluetooth mono headset, LG HBM-260, is leveraging the company’s CSR BC6145 Bluetooth audio platform IC.
