Sennheiser, a manufacturer of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, offers an attractive pair of electrostatic headphones valued at 30,000 Euros.
Called Orpheus, these headphones are touted to be the most expensive ever for more than 20 years.
According to Yash Desai from The Rich Times, Sennheiser showcased Orpheus during the Seoul International audio show that was held in Korea earlier in 2011.
Desai notes that although recently introduced headphones are priced at a higher range, these new headphones from Sennheiser are worth the price due to its features and good quality.
Sennheiser offers the Orpheus system in two parts. The first part comprises of the electrostatic headphone (HE 90) and the second part consists of headphone amplifier (HEV 90).
The open-back electrostatic headphone design of Orpheus is based on the professional technology of the push-pull transducer. This technology, says Desai is also featured
in Sennheiser’s studio condenser microphones.
Most of the 300 Orpheus headphones are owned by private collectors.
Sennheiser was in news earlier this week for launching new accessories for its 1800MHz evolution wireless systems. The company unveiled the first audio manufacturer to offer radiomicrophone systems in the 1800MHz band earlier this year and will now provide
matching accessories to facilitate the set-up of larger systems.
