Law Sound and Lighting Delivers High Quality Audio with Sennheiser SKM 2000

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Pennsylvania-based Law Sound & Lighting has reportedly added Sennheiser SKM 2000 wireless microphones to its inventory to deliver high-quality audio service, company officials said.

Sennheiser is a manufacturer of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems. Law provides full production audio services and high-end equipment rentals to northeast Pennsylvania, the East Coast and the world. Its broadcast clients include ESPN (News - Alert), ABC, FOX, and NBC, among many others, and its PA systems have supported acts as varied as BB King, James Brown and Blue Oyster Cult. Sennheiser’s new 2000 series can offer performance, quick setup and rock-solid reliability even in the most challenging RF situations, company officials claim.

Law officials said that it offers a wide range of RF wireless equipment for those situations whereas a cable just gets in the way. From just an RF microphone to a complete RF setup of IFB, microphone, and intercom for broadcast users can expect a wide array of systems from them.

The company faced a series of supposed “annoying” problems when it rented its wireless microphones to YES Network for roving talent at New York Yankees and New Jersey Nets games. The YES network reporter watched the end of the game deep underneath 30 feet of concrete on the third base side and when the reporter tried to contact the production truck the communication system took a lot of hits and the output was very distracting.

Law wanted to improve its system and then heard of Sennheiser’s new SKM 2000 handheld transmitter, which boasted 100 mW of signal strength. The company claims that there are not a lot of manufacturers that make broadcast-grade handheld transmitters with 100 mW. The SKM 2000 series is remarkably affordable and really can change the playing field.

According to Sennheiser, the SKM 2000 is backward compatible with existing Sennheiser equipment. The hand-held transmitter will show its strength during use, in its performance and in its features. The company claims that its technical know-how is shown through its switchable transmission power, intuitive menu navigation, an easy-to-read graphic display and external charging contacts for charging the optional rechargeable batteries directly.

Law also rents packages and provides technical support to the Ultimate Fighting Championship organization, which hosts mixed martial arts fights around the world. Integral to a UFC bout is “The Octagon (News - Alert)” – an eight-sided platform surrounded by chain-link fence. The Octagon was immensely problematic to Law’s systems with the phase issues. They added some helical antennas to the rented packages and upgraded to the Sennheiser SKM 2000 handheld transmitters and saw solid results.

The ability of Sennheiser SKM 2000 to allow the use of infrared to zap the frequency between the receiver and the transmitter saves time and reduces a lot of user error, especially in stressful or hurried situations.

Sennheiser had recently announced new RF consultation and support services and launched HD 380 headphones.
