Synterra CJSC Deploys ECI Telecom's XDM-3000

By Anamika Singh, TMCnet Contributor

ECI Telecom, a provider of communications platforms to carriers and service providers worldwide, and it  announced that Russian operator Synterra CJSC is deploying the XDM-3000, a new high-capacity Multi-Service Provisioning Platform, MSPP.

ECI’s XDM-3000 will address growing customer demand for capacity-intensive carrier-class infrastructure solutions to simultaneously handle both Ethernet and TDM-based services, a key element of the ECI 1Net framework for optimal network transition.

With the XDM-3000, Synterra will be able to improve network performance and more efficient routing of traffic with high network fault tolerance, across Russia. The high performance and multi-service equipment will allow Synterra to optimize its network, and do savings of nearly 30 percent in the modernization of its network.

Ekaterina Andreeva, a Synterra official, said:  “'Synterra'’s volume of network traffic is increasingly growing.” “The network is loaded both with traffic generated by our corporate customers as well as from our activities as carrier of carriers. To provide all of our business customers with the highest quality telecom services expected, we are constantly upgrading our network infrastructure and its capabilities.”

The XDM-3000 is a cost-effective solution to optimize transport networks. It enables carriers to better leverage their infrastructure, expanding Ethernet services and relieving the capacity bottleneck in metro-core sites. The platform’s ability for full non-blocking switching at 2 Mbps level, with carrier class Ethernet MPLS capabilities, let carriers  expand data services with fine bandwidth granularity over their network.

The XDM-3000 highlights a gradual, cost-optimized solution that supports premium Ethernet services over the SDH infrastructure while supporting a migration path to next-generation networks and services. Operators want to scale up their Ethernet services, but often find it more expedient just to add more SDH, supporting short time-to-market, fast return-on-investment, low risk and inherent carrier class quality.

“Our goal is to enable our customers to rapidly and cost-efficiently introduce new carrier-class differentiated services over their existing infrastructure, while supporting a smooth migration path to next-generation networks. The XDM-3000 addresses this goal, by eliminating capacity bottlenecks and by simultaneously supporting full fine granularity switching, for TDM, Carrier Class Ethernet and MPLS,” said Boris Mirkin, president, FSU Regional Business Unit, ECI Telecom (News - Alert).
