Anritsu Launches Testing Solution for 3G and 3.5G Mobile Devices

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Anritsu, the North American subsidiary of Anritsu (News - Alert) Corporation, has reportedly launched its first comprehensive test solution that supports Release 99 to Release 7 RF conformance testing of 3G and 3.5G mobile devices.

Anritsu’s newly announced Release 7 HSPA Evolution support for its ME7873F TRX/Performance/RRM RF conformance test system with expanded capability is said to offer wireless chipset manufacturers, mobile device OEMs, and wireless carriers with the first test system that can ensure conformance to all relevant W-CDMA and HSPA RF standards.

A full suite of RF tests, including Transmitter and Receiver, performance, and Radio Resource Management characterization, can be measured in accordance with the TS34.121-1 standard using the ME7873F. Test case coverage is provided for WI-069 64QAM tests, and WI-070 CPC tests, with additional test cases to follow after validation. All tests, as stated, can be conducted quickly, cost-efficiently and accurately due to the design of the ME7873F.

As a global provider of innovative communications test and measurement solutions for more than 110 years, Anritsu has been providing test equipment for legacy and next-generation wired and wireless communication systems. Developed as a single customized platform, the ME7873F test system, as stated, allows wireless device conformance tests to be conducted through a single connection, eliminating the need to switch test setup in mid-test. Moreover, to complement the ME7873F design, there are three calibration and correction methods that ensure high accuracy and stability when making HSPA measurements, said the company official.

Alternatively, the ME7873F test system is also capable of testing up to four mobile devices at one time, with appropriate options installed. Test preparations for multiple units can be completed at one time, enabling overnight testing using complex or lengthy test sequences. The company official also clarified that the system can be controlled by a networked computer from a remote location.

As mentioned by the company official, the ME7873F HSPA Evolution test capability including WI-069 and WI-070 test cases is priced at $550,000 as an upgrade of a current ME7873F system. Moreover, the base ME7873F test system will now vary in price depending on Release and Work Item test coverage.

Established in December 1998, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project or 3GPP is a collaboration between groups of telecommunications associations. 3GPP standards are structured as Releases and each release incorporates several individual standards. Release 98, 99,4,5,6,7,8,9 and the latest 10 are the specifications of systems.
