Guitar Hero for iPhone and iPod Touch Launched

Activision (News - Alert) Publishing, Inc, developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and leisure products have announced the availability of Guitar Hero, the biggest music videogame franchise for the iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod Touch. Vicarious Visions, Inc, the Guitar Hero veteran developer has designed this addictive gameplay exclusively for the iPhone and iPod Touch users. Based on the easy-to-play and challenging-to-master mechanics, the new game will keep players rocking out as they strum, tap, slide and whammy to the hottest tracks from the bands such as Queen, Rise Against, The Rolling Stones, Vampire Weekend, Weezer and The White Stripes.

 
The Guitar Hero app takes full advantage of the iPhone and iPod Touch's platforms' functionality. Players can personalize their games with its robust customization mode. With the app's built-in social integrations, scores can be shared with friends on Facebook (News - Alert), leaderboards can be checked and also get updates through in-game news. Fans can be challenged to tap, strum and whammy their way to the top of the Rock Ranks with its innovative new mechanics. An in-game music store will allow download of new tracks as well.
 
In a release, David Haddad, Chief Operating Officer for Guitar Hero said, 'With Guitar Hero for the iPhone and iPod Touch, we are once again leveraging our leadership position in the music/rhythm videogame space to deliver an all-new Guitar Hero experience that millions of people around the world can enjoy anytime, anywhere.' Haddad added, Guitar Hero will let players experience and interact with music in all-new ways ranging from the headliner set list in the base app and forthcoming song packs to the innovative new social integration and guitar shredding gameplay mechanics.
 
Some of the tracks featured in the Guitar Hero base app include, We Are the Champions by Queen, Savior by Rise Against, Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones, Cousins by Vampire Weekend, Say It Ain't So by Weezer and Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes.
 
Also available at the launch will be six additional song packs, featuring three songs each. Priced at $2.99, Guitar Hero for the iPhone and iPod Touch is available at the App Store, http://itunes.apple.com/app/id374801345. The song packs priced at $1.99 each are only available through the Guitar Hero app.
