Officials with Emerson Network Power (News - Alert) said that the company’s Avocent software provides Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), a discipline that ensures the data center is managed holistically from a service perspective using best-practice processes that span IT and facilities teams.
Emerson Network Power provides solutions and expertise in areas including AC and DC power and precision cooling systems, embedded computing and power, integrated racks and enclosures, power switching and controls, infrastructure management, and connectivity.
Back in March, Emerson Network Power introduced Smart Solutions, a family of intelligent, integrated infrastructure systems for the data center.
These Smart Solutions bring together best-of-breed technologies and industry best practices to enable cost-effective management of capacity, efficiency and availability through interoperable systems configured to speed implementation, adapt to change and reduce costs.
As part of the family, the company also introduced the SmartRow, SmartMod and SmartAisle offerings which exemplify the design principles and value of all Smart Solutions. These offerings are available globally. Timing and availability will differ from region to region.
In other company news, Emerson Network Power offers PRO-AV solutions with its Avocent offerings to counter problems surrounding latency, pixilation and cabling. Avocent offers technology capable of producing “rock solid reliability” when transferring a video from Point A to Point B, according to company officials.
“Avocent on a whole is in a unique position from their technology standpoint for the PRO-AV industry,” Caleb Hooper, senior product manager of Avocent, told TMCnet. “The company has the ability to handle video from point to point and manage that video content to be able to matrix that content with little to no latency while maintaining a lossless quality; that’s something that is absolutely mission-critical in the PRO-AV industry. It’s an ever evolving problem and Avocent has some really amazing technology that enables them to help that industry.”
