TMCnet High Definition Digital Week in Review

This week, high definition digital leader Emerson (News - Alert) Network power, an Avocent division, spread the word on how its PRO AV solutions have found a home in the legal field, a place that depends on speed and accuracy.

High definition digital technology has become an integral part of American courtrooms, particularly as the process has evolved from lawyers holding out evidence and handing out documents to lawyers turning to electronic support systems. Avocent (News - Alert) is one company positioned to meet this growing trend.

Its solution offers wireless alternatives for extending data from a central location to a remote destination. By offering space for critical documents, photographs, drawings, graphs, sketches, computer printouts, video and audio files in a central repository, Avocent PRO AV solutions are able to provide remote access to any location inside the courtroom.

In other news, Level 3 Communications (News - Alert) announced its selection by Rotterdam-based game server provider, Interactive 3D B.V. (i3D.net), for the provision of high-speed IP (HSIP) services. The HSIP services are expected to help Interactive 3D support its network scalability and connectivity issues. Besides the wavelength transport services out of Level 3’s Rotterdam point-of-presence, the service will also allow Interactive 3D to peer in multiple locations, pointed out officials.

In a release Stijn Koster, CEO of Interactive 3D said, “On a daily basis, more than one million people play games on Interactive 3D hosted servers, and our ultimate goal is to help our customers deliver the best online experience possible for those gamers in terms of low latency, stability and reliability.”

Also this week, L-com (News - Alert), a manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has unveiled a new set of high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) splitters, switches and extenders, which are positioned as being ideal components for home and professional use.

HDMI is the latest innovation of digital audio and video connector used by DVD players, TV sets and video monitors. HDMI Splitter allows set-top boxes, DVD players, D-VHS players and other HDTV devices with HDMI outputs to be connected to two or more HDTV displays.

“We are excited to offer our own brand of HDMI connectivity products to address the growing needs of the digital signage, professional A/V and home A/V markets,” Pete McNeil, product manager at L-com said in a statement.
