Avigilon, a provider of high definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance solutions, recently revealed some of its new products, including the 29 megapixel (MP) JPEG2000 HD Pro camera, two new HD cameras and key software updates, at the ongoing ASIS 2011 in Orlando, Florida.

The new 29 MP JPEG2000 HD Pro camera series from Avigilon consists of powerful high-definition surveillance cameras and starts at 8 MP and goes all the way up to 29 MP. The latest - 29 JPEG2000 HD Pro Camera - not only provides exceptional clarity, resolution and detail, it can also replace up to 95 conventional cameras and can provide high-resolution, high-definition images of very large areas, said officials with Avigilon in a press release.

“We are very proud to introduce the 29 MP JPEG2000 HD Pro Camera, which stems from our dedication to provide our customers with excellent images and the best possible evidence,” said Alexander Fernandes, president and CEO of Avigilon, in a statement. “We are continuously investing in our technology and advancing state-of-the-art surveillance systems to help protect our customers and preserve their most important assets.”

Another HD camera to be showcased at ASIS 2011 includes the new 8 MP surveillance camera, which provides high-resolution and wide dynamic range. This camera can replace as many as 26 conventional cameras, according to Avigilon.

Apart from new cameras, Avigilon also announced the latest version of its Avigilon Control Center (ACC) software, ACC 4.10, with new updates, at the ASIS 2011. The ACC software, which is built specifically to capture, transfer and manage high-definition images, helps users to have the flexibility to create a fully customized, stable system with one HD camera or an unlimited number of HD cameras.

The ACC software leverages the High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) technology and offers a simple and intuitive interface and delivers full situational awareness and detailed images.

The HDSM helps in compressing and preserving image quality efficiently while intelligently managing HD image transmission throughout the Avigilon system. Helping in sending only the requested portions of captured images to operator workstations, this technology delivers very high image quality while providing immediate savings in transmission bandwidth, thereby allowing operators to use less powerful workstations and hence reduced costs.

One of the new features incorporated in to ACC 4.10 include Synchronized Active Directory Integration and Automatic Bookmark Creation. This feature further enables faster response times, reduced investigation times, and comprehensive overall protection.

According to Avigilon, its cameras, network video recorders and software components are built on an open platform. Consequently, customers can integrate Avigilon components into their systems now and into the future.

Recently, Avigilon was awarded the 2011 “Team of the Year” award from the British Columbia Technical Industry Association (BCTIA).
