Toshiba Imaging Systems is now working with ISee3D Inc., an imaging company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada focused on single-lens 3D technology, to provide an advanced 3D solution for a microscope digital video system using Toshiba's IK-HD1 high-definition, 3-chip CCD Color Camera system. It is to be the most innovative 3D camera on the market – perfect for scientific imaging.
Toshiba Imaging is a Division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., and a major provider of video surveillance, IP video products and industrial video cameras based in Irvine, CA.
Both companies are delighted to work together to produce this single-camera 3D microscopy system, due later in this year (2012).
The benefit of the new system, said Paul Dempster, Toshiba Imaging's Director of Sales, is that it uses the technology of ISee3D’s stereoscopic 3D visualization and Toshiba's advanced video imaging technology to create remarkable 3D microscopy. The product will provide a high-standard resolution camera to record images observed in the microscope, and as addressed by ISee3D’s CEO Terry Debono, is able to provide 3D microscope images that are highly-effective and efficient for clinical, surgical and scientific microscopy applications.
Other than in the medical profession, the microscope digital video system can serve many other industries that perform tests, measurements, imaging or inspection/identification for forensic science. Essentially, anyone that has a lab may have an interest.
The new 3D microscope imaging system went on display in Vancouver, BC, March 20 - 21, 2012.
