Leviton Introduces an Enhanced Shielded CAT 6A Connector

Leviton Network Solutions (News - Alert), a division of Leviton Manufacturing announced enhancements to its popular QuickPort eXtreme CAT 6A Shielded Connector.

In its enhanced version, QuickPort eXtreme CAT 6A Shielded Connector features a narrower design, which makes it compatible with higher density applications.

The shielded connector has been designed to provide superior alien crosstalk suppression, which is used to protect critical data from potential EMI/RFI (News - Alert) (electromagnetic interference / radio frequency interference). This makes it suitable for use in the government, healthcare, manufacturing, and other environments where EMI/RFI may be a concern. In its enhanced version, the connector comes with an increased margin for alien crosstalk (AXT) suppression.

The connector is part of a complete CAT 6A shielded system, including patch cords and patch panels. It meets TIA (News - Alert)-568-C.2 and ISO/IEC 11801 (Class Ea) performance for all internal and alien crosstalk parameters up to 500 MHz.

Leviton Network Solutions is one of the largest global providers of electrical wiring devices, network connectivity solutions and lighting energy management systems. The company provides complete network infrastructure systems to the enterprise, data center, government, education, health care, and residential markets. The division’s solutions include cutting-edge fiber optic and copper systems, PDUs, and customized make-to-order products.

“Leviton is the industry leader in copper connectivity products, and we continue to innovate with our latest enhancements to the QuickPort eXtreme CAT 6A connector, which helps solidify that position. This new high-density, high-performance connector increases CAT 6A performance margins and supports short links commonly found in data center applications, while allowing for up to six connectors to fit in a single-gang faceplate,” said Senior Product Manager for Leviton Keith Kosanovich in a statement.

Earlier this month, Leviton Network Solutions announced enhancements to its Multimedia Outlet System (MOS) modules. The audio/video connectivity system supports video applications over distances up to 100 feet and features three quick-to-install module types - VGA, RCA Composite Video & Stereo Audio, and RCA Component Video, the company said in an earlier release.
