Physical security infrastructure and services company Intransa and Toshiba (News - Alert) Surveillance & IP Video Products Group, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, have announced that the Toshiba IK-WD14A video surveillance camera and the company’s SCS (News - Alert) Video Management System (VMS) software are SELECT certified for use with Intransa’s optimized physical security server and storage infrastructure platforms. This announcement was posted on the EC&M site.

As per the description, the IK-WD14A dome camera was the first Toshiba model to feature full HD 1080p resolution for securing areas where the sharpest video details are required, such as identifying facial features or license plates. To assist image capture in near complete darkness, along with a wide dynamic range for challenging back lighting environments, the camera offers built-in SR IR LEDs, according to Toshiba.

Additional details provided on the EC&M site by reporter Dan O’Connell indicate that IK-WD14A is designed to optimize image quality and provide maximum network efficiency, as well as simultaneous H.264/MPEG4/JPEG streaming for automatic bandwidth prioritization, enabling seamless full frame (1920 x 1080) video at up to 30 frames-per-second for both live viewing and recording. Furthermore, per EC&M report, imaging performance is further enhanced by the camera’s one-touch 3x optical zoom, remote focus, and broad angle pan and tilt.

The report quoted Sergio Collazo, director of Sales and Marketing, Toshiba, as saying, “We are pleased to have not one, but two products, SELECT certified with Intransa.”

“Being preloaded for use on Intransa’s platforms provides customers with additional choice when they are looking for a combination of VMS software, cameras and a security and storage infrastructure that is designed and built for video surveillance,” noted Collazo.

Likewise, a comment from Intransa’s director of product management Alex Doorduyn, states, “With the certification of Toshiba’s high definition cameras and VMS software Intransa is extending the most prominent trend in the IP space and optimizing it for use with our server and storage infrastructure platform.”
