PowerWave Technologies, providing end-to-end wireless coverage and capacity solutions, hosted a Day of Innovation in Technology in Washington D.C. The event was held at the Pavilion in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

The special highlight of the Day of Innovation was a unique technology panel titled “Mobile Broadband for Government: The Next Wireless Frontier,” which assisted in raising awareness and educating the commercial and government enterprises about the upcoming wireless communications technologies for government applications.

The discussion was opened with an important speech on the critical significance of mobile broadband as a competitive advantage for the United States as a nation and for its national security by Governor Tom Ridge who is the first Secretary of Homeland Security and also a member of Powerwave’s (News - Alert) Technical Advisory Board.

Governor Ridge said, “As broadband capabilities fuse with wireless technology, we will see the emergence of more efficient and effective government operations. Within government, wireless broadband can immediately improve the performance and capabilities of the public safety, defense and homeland security communities. Through its own use of broadband, government can better serve all citizens and strengthen our nation’s competitive advantage.”

Some of the other panel members who shared their vision for mobile broadband were, Mr. Whitten Peters who is the former Secretary of the United States Air Force, Mr. John P. Jumper who is the retired General of the United States Air Force, Mr. A. Paulraj who is a Professor at the Stanford University and also a Pioneer of Smart Antenna Technology MIMO, Mr. Ted Rappaport who is a Professor at the University of Texas, Austin and who is also the founder of the Wireless Networking and Communications Group “WNCG” and pioneer of Indoor Wireless Propagation and Deployment Techniques and last but not the least Mr. Khurram Sheikh the Chief Product and Development Officer of Powerwave Technologies Inc (News - Alert). and the pioneer in the Development of "4G" Networks.
