Echoworx (News - Alert) has said that it’s the first in the industry to bring end-to-end mobile encryption and credential management capabilities that address all major devices -- smartphones and tablets -- and platforms, and also cloud applications.
This summer, the company is expected to add the final additions to its mobilEncrypt offering which has been specifically designed to meet the security needs of mobile business users.
mobilEncrypt is interoperable with all other Echoworx encryption products. Its design addresses a complete range of mobile platforms, including iOS -- iPhone, iPad -- Android and BlackBerry (News
- Alert) devices.
Additionally, the new offering is also expected to complement Apple’s new release of iOS Version 5.0. Company officials said that this will allow users to issue and use X.509 credentials with the native S/MIME support on iOS 5.0 to send and receive encrypted e-mail messages to anyone with a valid email address.Plus, mobilEncrypt can easily be integrated with mobile device management (MDM) solutions to deliver complete security for smartphones and tablets, according to company officials.
Michael Ginsberg, CEO at Echoworx, noted that mobile privacy and security may be a relatively new topic of conversation, it's an important one. He said that the challenge with mobile security however is that enterprises are dealing with a number of different operating systems.
“As a result, they have been unable to replicate the breadth of encryption capabilities that exist in the non-mobile world,” Ginsberg said, adding that until recently, the only available solutions have been deployed on a piecemeal basis to address specific operating systems, cloud applications or endpoint devices only.
Ginsberg said that security for mobile today goes beyond tracking, locking and wiping devices and by combining mobile encryption with a credential management platform, “we can help MDMs solve a problem that they can't accomplish on their own.”
With mobilEncrypt, if you want to shut down access to data, you simply suspend the user's credential, and then nothing of value is accessible, Ginsberg said. “What we've done is create a real, viable solution to a growing problem.”
Echoworx is a provider of managed encryption services for complete enterprise email and data protection. Earlier in May, the company added two hosted Exchange providers to its growing portfolio of partnerships -- Hostway Corp. and IT Solutions Now.
