Android devices will now be able to avail enterprise-grade credential management and encryption from Echoworx (News - Alert) in collaboration with NitroDesk, Inc. Public key infrastructure (PKI) functionality will be facilitated for NitroDesk’s TouchDown email client with the inclusion of the Echoworx Security Cloud capability. Sending and receiving of encrypted messages will be now possible for Touchdown users on their Android (News - Alert) devices, thereby accelerating the use of Android devices for businesses.
In a release, Ron Goins, COO for NitroDesk, said, “This relationship legitimizes Android for the enterprise customer. Many corporations are embracing BYOD (bring your own device) and the reality is a large proportion of new devices sold are Android. The Echoworx Security Cloud will play a big part in extending the security model we have already built into TouchDown making Android use in the workplace a non-issue.”
NitroDesk has nearly 750,000 customers of TouchDown. Credential management will now be available to these customers with the Echoworx Security Cloud, thereby eliminating the need to use a separate PKI infrastructure. The users’ smart devices are used for safe storing of credentials, which have been sent over-the-air. Credentials of the users can be maintained by IT administrators by giving out, taking back or suspending credentials as needed.
Michael Ginsberg, CEO of Echoworx, said, “This is a major breakthrough for companies like NitroDesk. Rather than running their own PKI, they simply plug into ours and get all the security they need. Whatever people are using – whether it’s the TouchDown email client or any application that requires a password – it is clear that organizations need stronger forms of credential management to protect corporate usage and data.”
Companies looking for ways to quickly add credential management and encryption to their applications can contact Echoworx for new collaborations.
Users can synchronize their Android devices with corporate email, contacts and calendar on Microsoft (News
- Alert) Exchange Servers using the email client TouchDown from NitroDesk.
