Small businesses that have fewer IT resources can now take advantage of cloud’s flexibility to deploy an enterprise-grade business intelligence (BI) hosted exchange solution by leveraging a new open source BI tool, called as JasperReports Server, launched by BitNami and Jaspersoft.

BitNami and Jaspersoft collaborated to launch this new BI hosted exchange tool. Available as part of the BitNami Cloud Hosting library, the JasperReports Server Community Edition will bring open source BI to the cloud.

Jaspersoft is a BI vendor offering end-to-end BI capabilities by utilizing a commercial open source business model. Its BI suite includes pixel-perfect enterprise reporting, ad hoc query, dashboards, OLAP and in-memory analysis, and data integration. It encourages adaption of new, virtualized world by providing a complete spectrum of on-premise, multi-tenant SaaS (News - Alert) and cloud-based deployment options for both embedded and standalone business intelligence.

BitNami has been working closely with Jaspersoft for several years, in order to make their commercial offering easy to deploy for customers. Under the terms of the partnership, BitNami will provide users of its BitNami Cloud Hosting with access to Jaspersoft’s open source BI solution for the cloud, according to Daniel Lopez, CTO, BitNami.

Officials with BitNami and Jaspersoft said in a press release that the new JasperReports Server Community Edition open source report server can be implemented by businesses of all sizes on the Amazon EC2 Cloud by using BitNami Cloud Hosting.

The new JasperReports Server is tailor-made to the cloud. It also features customizable Graphical User Interface (GUI) and very good data source support. The commercial edition of the tool includes multi-tenant capabilities as well.

In addition, a BitNami-enabled deployment of JasperReports Server can not only be deployed quickly, but can also be scaled up or down according to changing requirements.
