Vision Solutions has released the latest versions of its Double-Take Move, RecoverNow and Availability products.
The company said that the updates in the new versions expand support for virtualized IT environments and Microsoft (News - Alert) hosted Exchange, and also provide faster and easier installation of disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines.
With Double-Take Availability 5.3, users can now configure the protection of virtual machines (VMs) in aggregate without the need to pre-install software on each virtual machine.
Also, Double-Take Availability 5.3 adds additional capabilities to both full-server failover and VM failover. Company officials said these capabilities reduce the potential for downtime during a fail-back.
The user does not have to install a Double-Take software agent on each VM prior to configuration. Company officials said that the new versions allow the administrator to configure protection of VMs at the host level instead. Moreover, automatically, all the required functionality and agent software is injected into the VM in the background as protection for the VM is configured and started.
Additionally, the updated Double-Take Availability supports protection of clustered Hyper-V hosts over wide area networks for remote availability of workloads based on Microsoft Hyper-V, said company officials.
For Hyper-V hosts, the combination of Hyper-V clustering and Double-Take real-time replication of data provides unified local availability and remote availability, according to company officials. Also as part of this, administrators can set the IP address to use on the target side.
Company officials said that Double-Take 5.3 now supports Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 across the Availability, RecoverNow and Move products; and Double-Take Availability 5.3 supports protection of Exchange 2010 in Database Availability Group (DAG) environments.
