WinZip Picks YouSendIt to Deploy New ZipSend Service

YouSendIt, Inc., a provider of business content collaboration services, has partnered with WinZip Computing, a provider of a popular Zip utility for Windows. Under the terms of the partnership, both companies will collaborate to bring the YouSendIt platform to ZipSend, which is a new file delivery service from WinZip.

Customers will now benefit from easy integration of file delivery services to the WinZip installed user base. Both WinZip and YouSendIt worked closely over the creation of the ZipSend solution, which has been designed to make it easy for users to send multiple files and folders via a single secure, zipped package using their currently-in-use hosted Exchange e-mail application or over the WinZip 16.

The client applications of WinZip easily connect with the ZipSend file delivery service anytime the user wants to send files that are bigger than five megabytes. Leveraging the ZipSend solution, users will be able to send large files easily and not have to worry about files bouncing back which is typical in e-mail services with inbox limits. They will also be able to send files protected by passwords leveraging AES (government standard) encryption and will be able to track and control online file access instantly.

In a release, Patrick Nichols, president of WinZip, said, "By partnering with YouSendIt, we are able to deliver a superior product at scale that helps our users efficiently and seamlessly share large files, without interrupting their workflow. With ZipSend, users get the best of both worlds: WinZip's best-in-class file utilities and YouSendIt's industry-leading service for sending, receiving, and tracking files."

Till date, WinZip has successfully crossed 60 million plus and counting unique active installations. Now more than 20 million people holding a YouSendIt account will be able to easily sign in to the ZipSend service over any WinZip application by making user of their YouSendIt credentials.

Brian Curry, vice president of product and business strategy, YouSendIt, said, "When professionals can collaborate without worrying about file sizes and can share information freely, innovation and success follow. ZipSend, built on YouSendIt's platform with APIs available today, is an example of how we're continuing to break down communication and workflow barriers by extending secure file sharing from within today's popular applications."
