Integra Adds Cloud-based Collaboration and Messaging Services

Executive Editor, TMC

Service provider Integra Telecom Inc. is expanding its portfolio with cloud-based collaboration and messaging services.

New from Integra are hosted Microsoft Communication Services, including Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange, Microsoft Outlook 2010, Microsoft Lync, Microsoft SharePoint, enhanced encryption and other valuable features.

“Integra is pleased to offer an expanding portfolio of hosted communication services to support our business customers as they look for ways to improve the productivity of their workforce while reducing IT costs,” said a representative from the company.

“The addition of Collaboration & Messaging Services further extends the range of Integra’s cloud services and is a natural addition to our business-grade voice, Internet and private data networking services,” says Joe Harding, senior vice president of product and marketing at Integra Telecom (News - Alert).

The new services offer a secure hosted option for a monthly fee and enable customers to support their mobile workforces, who can as a result synchronize smartphones with their Exchange e-mail, calendar and company directories.

Integra provides services to business and carrier customers in 11 Western states, including: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The carrier operates a 5,000-mile fiber network and a 3,000-mile metropolitan access network including nearly 1,900 fiber-fed buildings.

A release from the company in September indicates that with Integra's fiber network, customers can access speeds from 5Mb/s up to 10Gb/s and that services on the network also include MEF Certified Ethernet; Virtual Private Network; Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert); and Dedicated Internet Access."We continue to invest resources so that Integra can aggressively grow its fiber network and better help business customers achieve their communications goals," said Dan Stoll, vice president of business development at Integra Telecom, who was quoted in the September release. "By leveraging our existing build process and fiber expansion strategy our customers will have access to customizable, high-bandwidth, fiber-based solutions."
