MediaPlatform Extends Enterprise Video Capability to Facebook and SharePoint

TMCnet Contributor

Enterprise video software provider MediaPlatform has seamlessly integrated its video platform with both social media and enterprise collaboration software.

The company recently announced that its WebCaster software now supports the streaming of live or pre-recorded content to Facebook and Microsoft SharePoint, allowing organizations to create webcasts directly within devices such as Macs, PCs, iPads, iPhones and Android (News - Alert).

The new capability allows organizations to deploy the same webcast or webinar to Facebook; however, the producer retains the ability to demand viewer registration and track their behavior.

By enabling Webcast producers to register through the Facebook (News - Alert) page, the company helps allows organizations to leverage their online video investments across social media and collaboration environments, company officials said.

The Facebook integration capability is especially beneficial to organizations that want to stream video content to Facebook but prefer to have that video originate from their traditional video streaming platform, allowing them to present the video to both internal and external audiences simultaneously.

“We have several large company clients that need to make live webcast presentations to both internal and external audiences at the same time,” says TVS webcasting director Jennifer Swinehart.  “Facebook is a natural environment to accomplish this goal – and MediaPlatform’s WebCaster is an ideal platform to reach the vast audiences offered by Facebook.”

Moreover, the SharePoint integration allows organizations to connect their collaboration infrastructure with its video communications capacity, so users can display live or on-demand webcasts to colleagues on team sites hosted on SharePoint Online.

“Online video should be a living, dynamic part of a company’s brand and workplace,” said Jim McGovern, CEO, MediaPlatform, in a statement. “As our clients take their video assets to social networks and internal team sites, we give them the ability to control that media and stay efficient in the process.”

Recently Mike Newman, Accordent CEO, shared his views on the latest technology trends for the past few months. According to Newman, the most significant trend in 2010 was the convergence of video creation, management and distribution of unified components of online communications initiatives.
