BRIEF: Five arrested in illegal telemarketing business bust
Nov 02, 2012 (Orlando Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Five people were arrested and charged with operating an unlicensed and illegal telemarketing business in Winter Park that was selling financial services to customers, according to state officials.
Willy Plancher, the owner of Leading Production LLC, was arrested along with two managers, Diana Dubauskas and Shakil Venzen and two salespersons, Carmen Rodriguez and Diana Schmidt, according to Sterling Ivey, a spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Officials said the defendants knew telemarketing without a license is a felony and had received orders before this week's arrest to stop selling interest rate and credit card reduction services over the phone.
About 15 other people were working for the firm but since they had no previous contact with the state agency, they only received cease and desist orders, Ivey said.
