New Customer Services Centre to open in time for Christmas

Nov 28, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- A new Customer Services Centre offering customers all postal services will open on December 3, in time for Christmas, the business's busiest time of year.

Construction of the suite started in July and the new addition will provide Island residents with a significantly improved customer service experience.

For the first time, this facility will offer the full range of postal and retail services including foreign currency, vehicle and driving licenses, banking facilities and Moneygram in addition to the collection of parcels.

From December 3, all services will be available six days a week from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 12.30pm on Saturday throughout the year. However, during December there will be extended opening till 8.30pm to assist customers at this busy time of year.

The new Centre also provides significantly more space with a single queuing system and three counter positions. The new Centre will also house two unique self-service features. A Pay & Post kiosk will allow customers to beat the queues for carrying out general postal transactions. The machines enable customers to weigh, stamp and pay for packages to be posted quickly and efficiently, using a simple touch screen device. As well as the usual postal capabilities, customers can also pay their electricity, gas, phone bills and government rates through the kiosks. There will also be self service PO Boxes for customers who currently subscribe to this service. They will no longer have to queue to collect their mail and this will be of particular benefit to those who choose to do this first thing in the morning.

Lisa Duckworth, Commercial Director, of Isle of Man Post Office said: "The new Customer Services Centre will greatly enhance our customer's experience at Postal Headquarters. This is an investment into the local community and we are delighted with the finished results. All postal and retail services will be available throughout the day. With early morning opening and late night closing times, I believe this new Centre will be very popular with our customers. We have simplified our queuing system and added one of our self-service postal kiosks which have proved very popular elsewhere on the Island." She continued: "In addition, we have provided the added convenience of self-service private boxes avoiding the need for our customers to queue to collect their mail; this is particularly useful to them at busy times of the day when they previously had to queue. The suite has also been constructed in consideration of the needs of disabled customers, working in conjunction with the Disability Access Office run by Crossroads Care. We were delighted to work with them to ensure our new Centre provided as many aids and features for our disabled customers as possible. We have introduced a hearing loop, a disabled level counter and tactile signage." The Customer Services Centre will be open from Monday (3rd December).
