VTech Communications a cordless phone manufacturer unveiled the CareLine home safety telephone system which will allow seniors to live independently at the same time connect with friends and family easily.
Jeffrey Kaye, the director of the Oregon Center for Aging and Technology (ORCATECH) and a professor of neurology and biomedical engineering at Oregon Health and Science University and his team helped VTech in the design of its CareLine product.
The VTech three-piece CareLine SN6197 system comprises of a full-featured corded phone as the base unit, a cordless handset and a wearable pendant which will suit seniors with hearing, dexterity or vision problems.
The CareLine system serves the daily communication needs of seniors by featuring large displays and buttons, audio assistance, reminder capabilities, volume boost and a wearable pendant with one-button dialing for direct dialing to often called numbers. The pendant facilitates making and receiving of calls, listening to voicemail messages, review missed calls, confirm the date and time or receive programmed reminders for medication, appointments and so on.
“CareLine offers seniors an easy-to-use phone system designed with their unique communication needs in mind,” said Matt Ramage, senior vice president of product management at VTech. “Imagine leaving your mother a recorded reminder about her doctor’s appointment or connecting with her while she is outside gardening. CareLine provides the independence and security seniors and their families desire.”
Users have the ability to move around their homes as the wireless handset and pendant are connected up to 600 feet away from the base by leveraging the DECT (News - Alert) 6.0 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) standard.
Audio Assist to temporarily increase volume for audibility; visual ringing indicator and Voice Announce caller ID to prevent missed calls and photo speed dial on the corded phone for quick reference of dialed numbers are the other features of the CareLine system.
Beginning of this year VTech launched a new line of baby monitors: the Safe and Sound Full-Color Video and Audio Monitor (VM321) and the Safe and Sound Digital Audio Monitor (DM221). Both VTech baby monitor systems enable parents to maximize their monitoring options cost effectively.
