Actuate Announces Availability of BIRT onDemand

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Actuate Corporation, the founder of Eclipse BIRT open source project, asserted that the BIRT onDemand is available for customers.

The solution is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering from Actuate (News - Alert), which enables users to host their BIRT-based data visualization applications on their hosted, cloud-based platform.

BIRT onDemand is a new addition to the Actuate BIRT line of deployment options, providing anyone, anywhere with immediate, on-demand content from either a fully hosted iServer implementation or an installation integrated with a pre-existing iServer. With BIRT onDemand, IT can easily and efficiently leverage pre-existing BIRT reports and designs, eliminating the need to recreate company assets.

BIRT onDemand offers a plug-and-play platform for BIRT-based BI applications. Capabilities such as interactivity, mobility, analytics and user configurable dashboards, combined with a host of apps from the BIRT-Exchange marketplace, make BIRT onDemand the most complete SaaS (News - Alert)/PaaS BI solution available.

BIRT onDemand supports both commercial and open source BIRT designs and offers a free test drive of the hosted BIRT iServer platform. Other noted features and benefits of BIRT onDemand are that it hosts BIRT apps, provides up to 10 user accounts, allows free mobile access, and includes free web-based editing tools to customize apps.

In addition, it enables subscribers to experience the features of BIRT iServer, allowing end users accessing BIRT content to take advantage of rich, dynamic visualizations interact with and manipulate their information and perform analysis to make intelligent decisions. BIRT onDemand can be accessed in two ways, through its intuitive web interface or on an iPhone (News - Alert), iPod Touch, the new iPad or nearly any other mobile device.

CEO of Shaspa Research, Oliver Goh, stated in a press release that Shaspa Bridge utilizes open source BIRT for end users to review their energy utilization. For their commercial products they are planning to offer dynamic mobile reports hosted on BIRT onDemand as an option to provide real time advanced data visualizations for users to manage their energy utilization.

BIRT onDemand is now available with a monthly subscription rates starting at $29.99 per user and a free 45-day trial for new subscribers is also being offered for a limited time.
