Wayport has reportedly inked a new master services agreement with Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA), to enable Wi-Fi Internet access for patients, visitors and other invited users. As per the agreement, the Wayport services can be accessed by SCA’s more than 130 surgery centers throughout the United States and each center will choose whether to utilize the services at their facility.

 

In addition, Wayport will also make a Wi-Fi network for employee and staff use available to each location that utilizes its services. The company explains that although it is only one aspect of the custom network services Wayport can provide to health facilities ,Wi-Fi portion of Wayport’s larger service offering is important to many healthcare facilities.

 

Wayport explains that they will provide Wi-Fi network design and installation, a managed Wi-Fi network connection, public Wi-Fi Internet access and employee and caregiver Wi-Fi Internet access in the individual facilities that choose to work with Wayport. Their services include 24x7 customer support, Wi-Fi network monitoring and repair and maintenance of the Wi-Fi network. By utilizing Wayport’s wireless products and services, the surgery center will then offer Wi-Fi Internet access to all of its end-users for Internet service.

 

Tim Gates, SCA’s VP of Information Technology said in a statement that with Wayport’s experience in healthcare and secure Wi-Fi solutions, they are well positioned to help SCA meet their goals of enhancing their patient and staff experience. He noted that Wayport’s 24X7 customer and network support, security solutions, and its ability to provide national wireless infrastructure management, offers a tremendous potential benefit to all of their surgery centers.

 

Kevin McKeand, vice president and general manager for healthcare at Wayport said that they are pleased to work with SCA to enable wireless applications, network integration and services. He added that their support capabilities can make the patient experience more valuable as well as help operations run more smoothly.

 

Last month, Wayport signed an agreement with Inova Health System, an award-winning, not-for-profit health care organization, to provide wireless Internet access throughout its five hospital locations.
