Avistar Partners with Yamaha to Advance Video Conferencing Offerings

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Avistar Communications Corporation has announced a partnership with Yamaha (News - Alert) Electronics Corporation to create a range of room-based and mobile video conferencing packages.

The terms of the partnership combine Avistar’s C3 (News - Alert) software with Yamaha cameras and audio devices in order to deliver highly featured and easy-to-manage video conferencing systems at market-beating prices.

The first packages that will be delivered as a result of this partnership are Avistar’s (News - Alert) C3 Teamroom MP, C3 Executive Room and C3 Mobile Room systems.

"Yamaha is really pleased to be a key part of Avistar packages that offer users unusually versatile, easy to use and cost effective video conferencing solutions," said Tom Graham, vice president of Yamaha Electronics Corporation, USA, in a Tuesday statement.

"We have decades of experience in digital processing of audio to achieve the finest acoustic performance available. For example, our conferencing camera and audio system uses an array of microphones to automatically select one of three built-in cameras to show whomever is speaking."

This partnership extends the availability of Avistar’s patented video conferencing software beyond the personal desktop deployments for which the company is best known.

"Partnering with Yamaha makes a lot of sense for Avistar," said Stephen Epstein, Chief Marketing Officer at Avistar, in Tuesday’s statement. "Our latest C3 software offers high-end features and is inherently flexible and easy to use.”

“When combined with Yamaha's outstanding camera and audio hardware, we can present a range of highly performing video conferencing room-based and mobile systems at very compelling prices. Running on standard PC hardware, our systems work 'out-of-the-box' and are a cinch to manage," Epstein added.

The Avistar product range developed with the support of Yamaha consists of three packages: the C3 Teamroom MP; C3 Executive Room; and the C3 Mobile Room.

All three systems are powered by Avistar’s C3 software and are designed as self-service solution that require no technical support or advance call scheduling. An intuitive user interface requires little or no training and presence awareness allows users to see available parties with calls connected by a simple drag-and drop action. The solutions also offer find-me/follow-me features.

Avistar’s C3 solutions have delivered proven gains in terms of improved quality of interaction, greater workflow efficiency and easier collaboration at distance. Clients have reported as much as a 20 percent reduction in travel expense and carbon emissions, increases in productivity and improved relationships.

The demand for video conferencing solutions continues to increase as organizations have dispersed locations and employees. These solutions can advance the development and teambuilding efforts of the company without requiring the investment of significant travel expenses.

Avistar has done well to recognize the needs in the industry and release solutions that appeal to customers in the way in which they do business. By offering a variety of options that can cater to specific environments, Avistar will be able to advance its positioning and drive adoption.
